Does the GoG version work with Xfire for multiplayer internet games?
This question / problem has been solved by Skintkingleimage
Short answer no, long answer
Yes it will register you as in-game playing total annihilation but it WONT use the xfire in-game overlay, it doesnt work with ANY method of installing total annihilation, it's just too old! :P
Main question answered, but I'm also having difficulties joining multiplayer games on my Lan, I can create a game and see it from the other machine, both press ready and start it pressed on the host, they both get to the loading screen but only the host enters the game, the other pc just hangs on the loading screen, requiring me to Alt+F4.
Using windows 7 so probably an issue with that, but has anyone come across or managed to fix that sort of issue?

Update: I've had some success with multiplayer Lan games.
You can play on windows 7 as long as you aren't the host.
Host it on an XP machine and it works fine.
I've going to test how well it works on an XP VM under windows 7.
Will report back :)

I have installed Total Annihilation on 2 windows 7 32 bit P'C's. I am unable to play Lan when I go into multiplayer. I select TC/IP etc when i get to the next screen the join option is not selectable. Both PC's can communicate as I play supreme commander Lan on both.
I recall sometime ago TA would work with lan if you had set up IPX in network connections however windows 7 does not support IPX..
Is there a way to connect with windows 7 2 PC for Lan games.
I have allowed direct play on windows 7 and also allowed the program to go through windows 7 firewall but still cant get both to communicate. Also disabled ADSL modem firewall. Still no luck.

Xfire doesn't help you play Total Annihilation online at all. GameRanger does.

GameRanger should also solve your LAN connection problems with Windows 7 (same with you, Starheaven).

I am having trouble joining a game through GameRanger. I have an XP computer, and 7 x64 laptop. They see each other on game ranger, I can join the lobby, but when the game launches, I see a black screen for a while and then the game crashes. No firewall, no security software, no nothing.

What am I doing wrong?
I 'd like to try multyplayer so if anyone is successfull just tel me "how to do" XD, I can give skype for organize a game
