Let's not just talk about this game, let's PLAY it!

Msg me here or the same usrename on Steam. The TCP/IP direct connect works EFFORTLESSLY.

LET'S PLAY TOTAL ANNIHILATION.\

I might be interested, but I'm much more of a strategy gamer, i do not do well in 'fast click' games.

In TA I only ever play against the computer, and i can beat 10 AI opponents allied against me on hard level. I can also beat the Krogoth encounter on hard, but with about a 30% fail rate. But all that being totally reliant on having pause options, so my total uselessness without pause options should not be underestimated!

You sound kinda lethal from the above description. Have you tried playing versus the switeck AI? After all these yeasrs since 1997 I have come to the conclusion cavedog was right to set the unit limit at 250 or whatever it was. Managing several hundreds of units is not really viable when playing against the computer on an all-metal map. That is unless the ai starts spamming its own base with hovercrafts or gets its commander stuck somewhere in the open.

I have tried playing with AI mods but don't know if any of them were Switeck? I can say that I did not notice any of those AI mods made much difference.

I did make an all metal map once, with no structures so that units can move better but it was a bust because dead units blocked everything up just the same.

When you battle 9 AI opponents on an all metal map, the enemy is very resilient which is what makes it fun, but to actually win the game, oh boy! You can do it with a vast array of advanced fighter factories or also you can do it with a vast array of krogoth factories. Or you can assemble huge numbers of construction aircraft and push bug gun arrays at them.

Probably the Krogoth factories are easiest because you can put heaps of advanced construction aircraft on them rather than having to build too many factories. The aircraft factories won't take too much help before they start building too fast and generate too much down time inbetween. Usually each aircraft factory gets 3 advanced vehicle construction units on them..... you can put 4, but if you do that, they will frequently find a way to complain they cannot reach or they will drive on the construction pad - which they still sometimes do with only 3, but much less often.
Too busy enjoying Forged Alliance Forever :p

TA's UI feels restrictive in comparison, and the stealth fighters pwning all makes many of the units pointless in the mid-late game. There's also a similar issue with the Samson\Slasher at T1. Naval and hover units are much more viable in Supcom\FA as well.

I agree but you should try the community patch 3.902 and in terms of balance better play mayhem, esc or Zero.
They are better balanced than the original TA.

I know there's a Supcom-style mod with new units, but the player counts were very low last time I checked. I couldn't find anyone in my timezone on the usual MP clients. Whereas on any given weekend I can guarantee hundreds of players on FAF of varying skill levels, and everything's integrated into the FAF client (much like the GPGNet days).

Sure the community is smaller than FAF still its a great game. If you are in the CET or similar time zone there should be no problem to find people on Gameranger. ESC is played alot and you will often be able to play Zero aswell. I frequently play Zero myself.
