So I managed to start the game and get to the title screen (still couldn't get the intro to show) by running the game in windows 98 and 2000 compatibility mode, however the change of my mouses position on the screen is only shown every 3-5 seconds. I really don't know how to solve this problem and I'm not exactly a computer expert

I'm using a windows 7 computer and I don't have problems finding files or settings to alter when reading solutions in other forums, however I haven't seen anybody getting a solution to this specific situation on Total Annihilation (However I have seen several other posts saying they have the same problem)

Some help would be greatly appreciated, and if you could, it would be awesome if you could explain things in more or less laymans terms :P

I've tried just about everything I can think of without blindly messing around with files I know everything about, from this forum and also from the official TA support on GOG.com and nothing works, in fact, it seems like it may have made things worse, since I can no longer get to the title page. Please help, nobody else seems to have a problem with the game and I don't know what I'm doing wrong :(

Did you try running the game in window mode?

How to do that is explained in this forum post.

You can try step 1, and if that works you can alter the window resolution (wich will make it bigger) with steps 2 and 3. If step 1 doesn't work, the other steps probably won't help either.

No, no I didn't, thanks that gets it working just fine. Though I would really like if I could figure out how to run it in full screen
