I managed to download the game today from GOG and everything works fine; but how do I add TA escalation? Also how do I download the most recent 3.1 patch? They're .exe files so I can't just open them :(

3.1 is included in the gog version. I have no clue how to install the mods on MAC OS though. Post something in the tauniverse forums.

No. You are talking about the community patch 3.9.02 which is available on tauniverse.
