It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Just downloaded the game, and it installed fine. Whenever I try to start TA up, all it does is load indefinitely. No error codes, no pop ups just pointer and hourglass forever.

Any ideas?
Yeah. I've just downloaded and installed the game and I'm having the same problem on XP also. I double click the exe and it just takes up 25% of my CPU on explorer.exe and never loads.
It runs fine here, I'm on 32-bit.
Are either of you guys running 64-bit?

Either way, try downloading the unofficial patch and see if that helps.

If that doesn't give you any joy, post up your system specs and let some of the experts take a look at it.
Same problem here: Game doesn't start and the game process still eats up 100% of one cpu core (e.g. 50% for dual core machine...). Installed the patch, but it didn't help.

I've got Windows XP 32bit, E8500 Core 2, AMD radeon 6870...
..
Same here. Tried the patch and no difference.

Windows XP 32bit, AMD 3000 (I know it's old!)

I want to give this to my son for Christmas next week! Help!
Hi, same problem here, indefinitely running explorer.exe full blast on one core.

Win XP 32 bit SP3
Intel E4300
2 GB RAM
Nvidia 9800 GT, driver 260.99
DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)

I'm going to try updating graphics and DirectX drivers, to see if either of those helps.
Tried the following things that didn't help:

Update Nvidia driver
Update DirectX (already up to date)
Install June 2010 DirectX as directed in the Support page (when I went to reinstall the latest DirectX using the web installer, it still said that I was up to date)
Set Windows 95 compatibility
Set 640x480 resolution in the shortcut
Ok, seems quite a few of you are having the same issue.
I've just started downloading the installer again, in case it's been changed in the interim and it's an issue with the new build.

Beyond that, I'm afraid I can't really help, as I've never had issues getting TA to run on any OS.
It's probably best to raise a support ticket and point 'em here to show it's quite a wide spread problem.

Cheers, Bez
Just installed from the latest installer and I've got the same problem.
I've raised a support ticket with GoG, and have pointed them here so they can see that it is a wide spread problem.

in the meantime, if you do happen to have the old version of the installer I recommend using that as it seems to be a problem with the .exe included in the current version.
Same problems here

Windows XP - Tablet edition SP3
2GB ram
1.6ghz dual core

Game downloads and installs fine, but won't play: explorer.exe runs at 50% but no game start
I just bought this game a couple of hours ago. Like the others on this thread, the game won't start with explorer using %50 CPU indefinitely. I am running Windows XP SP3 32 bit on an Acer Aspire One netbook. I own lots of gog games and this is the first one I've had problems with on this netbook.

That was quick!
May I enquire as to what the issue was?
