For people like myself that have flickering, you have to run the game in windowed mode. Add a -d at the end of the command line in your shortcut. Its will remove the flickering, but the resolution will only go so high. Unfortunately this is the only solution I know of that works.

surely no cooincidence, the wifes card is an ATI Radeon HD 3400 series too. we'll try the command line thing.

well it definitely got rid of the flickering, but now it's taking up just a corner of the screen. is there no way to make it fill the whole screen?

-d won't make my game run windowed... and I'm having this same problem. Almost makes me regret buying it =( game is unplayable this way.

Running on Win7 x64 home premium with NVIDIA GeForce GT220

Nothing I can find will make it go full screen but you can change your video options in game to provide a larger resolution than the default settings. Its not great but better than nothing.

I also have this problem on Windows 7 64bit. The game flickers, occasionally changes into a mode with only four color or something, and crashes from time to time as well...

If I'd known that this game doesn't run on Windows 7, I'd never have bought it. Since it's advertised as working on that OS, I think this would be a strong case for a refund...
Windows 7 64-bit user here, playing on GeForce 8600M GT. I also get flickering at the beginning and at the end of the mission, when the resolution changes. Flickering during the missions was mainly caused by background applications, e.g QIP (when someone sends a message, QIP icon blinks). If I close these apps, the game runs almost fine. It still switches to 4-color mode once an hour for an unknown reason, but this goes away after Alt+Tab.

o.k. we've finally managed to get it to fit the whole screen. first, on the target line in the short cut you have to add -d like Scorpionscythe said, but make sure you add one empty space first, so it looks like this. TotalA.exe" -d

that space threw me for a loop for awhile. the only resolution i've done this on is 1280x1024, that's as high as it goes on ours. so it should be in the corner of the screen now. then we went into her laptop control panel, appearance and personalization, display adjust screen resolution, and set her laptop resolution to match the 1280x1024.

the main menu of the game will still be in the corner of the screen, but when you actually start your game it should fill the whole screen. at least it does for us. hope this helps you guys.

Sorry about not mentioning the space! I didn't even think about it. Just as a word of wisdom as well: You always have that space when adding a prompt to your command line.

Anyway, I am glad you got it working. Too bad we have to jump through so many hoops but its better than nothing at all.

yeah jumping through hoops blows, but i've long since gotten used to it with windows 7. we're just happy it works.

as for the game itself we really like it, the depth is seriously impressive.
I have an nVidia GeForce GTX 260M myself, which I am fairly confident can handle this game.

That said, the -d on the command line does not make it run in a window for me...? I know how to properly format prompts, it just...doesn't do anything.

I'm having the same problem with TA:K, too.

Hi,

I had the same problem (extrem flickering under Win7 x64). The workaround with the screenmode and changing the resolution of my monitor worked.

Doing this my self was really annoying so I started to code my own simple launcher. Maybe someone of you could test it.

Virus Infos (there are two "*.exe" files in the rar):
first exe

second exe

The launcher is very simpel and it´s still in alpha state. I´m not responsable for any damages!
