I am running windows XP Home Edition in a virtual instance of VMWare Fusion environment for Mac OS X.

I have a Quad Core i7 and I have installed the vm-ware tools and actived the 3D rendering.

1 core is dedicated to the virtual machine with 2Gigs of memory.

When i run total annihilation, the menus are in 640X480 and then I go to the menu to change in-game resolution.

For instance, I put 800X600 then I start a new skirmish.

There I get a black screen and it freezes. If I try with 640X480, i'm in the game after 1 second.

It happens that after pushing ctrl-alt-del, the game finally starts and then I play. But when I quit the game of after a victory, It happens again and I'm stuck.

I have installed all the latest version of directx etc... for my os and I have a cpu at 2.80Ghz dedicated. directx version : 9.0c

The graphic card is a virtual one called VMware SVGA II with 128MB of memory size.

On the mac, it is an ATI Radeon HD 4850.

With -d option in the shortuct to windowed TA, it works.

So a solution would be :
- change resolution to 1600x1200
- ratio options : full screen without edges
- hide windows bar (where there is a start button)
- in the Total Annihilation shortuct => right click => properties => at the end of "Target" => add " -d" at the very end so it looks like : ...TotalA.exe" -d
- launch Total Annihilation
- go the options menu => visuals => choose screen size => 1600x1200

There you go, a full screen "simulation" !!!

Thanks, your post helped me out. I have the same problem with not being able to run full screen under Windows 7 with VMWare Fusion 4.1.1 on OSX 10.6.8 Have to run in windowed mode @ 1600x1200 even though my windows 7 resolution is set to 1920x1200. Vmware fusion doesn't seem so good with Win7 and old directx. The mouse lags more than it should, Kinda a bummer.
