Just trying to get back into this game and I am trying to avoid the bad habit of just playing the same maps over and over (Great Divide, I know thee too well). I like to play against the AI (for I am The Eternal Noob) for what that matters.
Are there any maps that people here think are particularly noteworthy for download?
I think I'm going to look for some metal-world maps later today because I'm not a huge fan of the ones in game by default (They're huge or filled with winding passages which just encourages aircraft rushing or endless micro, the micro is tedious and the air-rush is easy and just can be used anywhere. I feel like there is no low player count full on meat-grinder which seems like what a metal-world would be great at).
For anyone looking for a place to download maps here are two archives:
http://www.ratpacker.com/
This one has minimaps and is ratings for each map to use as a guide and is divided by the map's largest dimension.
http://files.tauniverse.com/browser/?repository_id=fileuniverse-library&folder=%2Fta%2Fmaps-1#1
This one is just a whole lotta files! So many O _ O
Subdivided into folders, there's maps galore as well as mods, old files, patches etc.
I can recommend the zeal-maps folder from the second link, it has about six downloads which you can put in the file along with the executable to TA or your mod of choice and should show up as skirmish options. They seem nice enough to me, I suspect those are the standard for online play for certain mods as it was in a mod topic that I found out about them.
(The directory is found at ta>Maps-1>zeal-maps)
So, anyone else got any favourites, preferably not included in the GOG version so we can increase our map rosters?
