Chapter 18 - "War", Zhon v Varuna
The problem with this one was the heavy Varunan attacks from across the sandy land bridge near your starting point, and from the south. If you do survive this first one there will only be exponentially more savage further attacks every 2 minutes. You just don't have the time or mana to even build a 10% capable defense, never mind a force big enough to the counter attack. Tried three times, never survived longer than 5 minutes once, map skipped......
Anyone know a legit way of actually completing this map?
Chapter 33 - "One Quiet Man", Zhon v Varuna
It's easy to find five of the Varunan bases, but the sixth one? Where the hell is it?
Skipped map in frustration..... not that it was an enjoyable map anyway!
Chapter 34 - "Vengenence", Zhon v Varuna (there's a pattern here)
If you do manage to survive the first few Varunan attacks, and get enough Dark Towers built, you will at least then be able to eternally hold off the constant small pinprick attacks every few minutes. These never end though, and annoy the absolute bejesus out of the player. Same tactic doesn't work against the AI as the AI doesn't get annoyed nor fed up!
But you will then find you're in a state of unbreakable deadlock. I sent in wave after wave of attacks, all them getting crushed - but without managing to destroy all of the Varunan's ability to build anew. Leave alive even just one tiny Priestess and the whole kit and caboodle is all rebuilt by the time you send your next attack waves in.
No strategy or mix of attaciking units seemed to work.
Anyone know a strategy that works?
After six hours on the mission clock, and no progress made at all I just "Ctrl-A, Ctrl-D" give up, rage quit and skip to
Chapter 35..... "Emen's Message", Aramon v Talos and Aramon Buriash traitors
So girly little Emen is the only unit you control..... and you have to just find this Lord Buriash and stick his poison dagger up his ringpiece? Well where is Buriash? Can't find him anywhere. Kept on finding these three cannon units and squish goes girly little Emen with no problems though.
Three tries and that was it, your out, skip to 36...... let's hope this does not make it four rotten missions on the trot!
