I am trying to install the Gender Mod for Torchlight. I extract it ok to the GOG Torchlight folder but nothing happens in the charecter screen . Can anybody help?
Ha. Beat me to it. I'm having the same issue too.

That's what I get for typing up something too long.
I have a Downloaded from Runic (and yes, it is legal and paid for) version of Torchlight on my computer, but decided to blow 8 bucks on the GOG version just as a back up. The mod works fine on the old Runic version but causes the GOG version to crash. I have not tried any other mods. If the GOG cannot use mods, that is a huge deal breaker for me.
Let's see if this is specific to this mod or this holds for ALL mods.
Just e mailed GOG on this issue.I suggest people having problem with mods do the same, since I suspect this will be a issue with all mods.

Yes, no mod support at all. I can confirm this. I replaced the GOG exe with a warez version and mods are working again. Definitely something wrong this release.
Hopefully gog will fix the problem.
I have two versions on my PC (a RUnic version and the GOG version) so I don't have to resort to Warez ( despite what it's supporters say, the warez sites are still far to infested with viruses for my taste ) but hopefully GOG will fix this. I am betting, from the error message I got, it is a problem with the GOG exe program not liking the mods.
And please E mail gog about this, don't just bitch on the forums.

That's pretty weird. What does it take to mess that up...
I have been fooling around with this problem. I had the Runic bought version on my computer when I installed the GOG version (and, yes, you can run more then one version of Torchlight on the same computer..several people who do mods do so to test their mods with) and I quickly found out that if I removed the mods folder from the Runic folder in my Application Data folder then the GOG version works fine.
I suspect...and I would like somebody who has only the GOG version on their computer to confirm this......that the GOG install sets up the C drive Application data folder for Torchlight the same as the other versions do,and the problem is that the GOG exe file and the exe file in the Runic App data folder have a failure to communicate involving mods.
I could try a total uninstall of both programs and then install the GOG version to see what happens, but I will wait until I have confirmation that this will allow the GOG version to use mods before I do this. I doubt this will do any good since, both versions of the game (the GOG and the Non GOG) load fine as long as there are no mods folders in the Runic C Drive folder, and if you put mods in the Runic version works fine but the GOG does not.

I already tried that. It didn't work.
It is pretty clear it is a problem of communication between the GOG exe and the Runic App Data folder involving mods.
What happens if you install the GOG version in some other place than the default location?

Guess ... :)

Nothing changes. The game starts and plays fine without any mods and crashes the moment you install a mod.

Ok, just wanted to elminate that deal. Homm3 can get cranky on some computers when installed in the default location.

I'm guessing GOG will have this fixed by July 9th. at the latest.
Indeed, GOG has to be e-mailed about this, for two reasons.
-Mods add huge value to the game, so it'd be quite a loss to be unable to use them.
-GOG advertises TorchED as one of the key features of this release, but you can't really use that for anything if the mods created there don't work.
So please, everyone who has the GOG version (I don't, yet), if you haven't already done so, let the GOG support know about this issue.
I noticed that the GoG version is 1.0.0, while the one I bought from Runic a couple of years ago is version 1.15. Could this be reason why the mods don't work?
