I'm completely stuck at this part where I have to sway the cauldron. No matter what I do it refuses to work and I'm completely stuck. How the hell do i do this part? Apparently my CPU is too fast or something

The controls are untintuitive. I forget how exactly it goes because I've no desire to play this. Here's a LP that should have it at some point.
