After installing the game it doesn't start, but a message box appears that reads: ERROR OUT OF TABLE RANGE. The message box has two buttons, "OK" and "ERROR OUT OF TABLE RANGE". The first quits, the second expands the message box and you see: "Disk error".

The game probably asks for the original disks, but I only have the downloaded binaries from gog.

Please help to get it work.

I just started playing it on my Win10 box and had some crashing issues at the beginning caused by other programs I had running. I fixed by not running them at the same time.

My system:

* PC with quadcore cpu (intel i3, 3.4Ghz)
* 8 GB main ram
* Nvidia GeForce GTX 650 Ti 6 GB RAM
* Windows 8.1 with DirectX 11

I've tried all compatibility settings and run under admin account, and mixed. I've installed the game again.

No changes, same message.

How do you launch the game? Through Galaxy or using the trl.exe?

Try running dxdiag.exe and see if it reports any problems.

No galaxy running. I've already checked it by dxdiag.exe, it does not find any problems.

Well, you can try running the DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer which installs a number of runtime libraries from the legacy DirectX SDK for some games that use D3DX9, D3DX10, D3DX11, XAudio 2.7, XInput 1.3, XACT, and/or Managed DirectX 1.1. Note that this package does not modify the DirectX Runtime installed on your Windows OS in any way.

It can't hurt and may help.

Unfortunately the "DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer" doesn't work with Windows 8.1. :-(
See the linked page under "system requirements". Since it comes from microsoft itself, I see no point in trying it anyway.

Are you familiar with windows operating systems and software devolepment? Any idea what kind of error this could be?

What happens when you run the setup option (" ....\trl.exe" -setup)?

The redistributable simply add some dlls that older games may require in order to run. I always add that when I build a new gaming PC.

I knew the mentioned links and many others and tried them all - nothing works. The only thing I may try is to install the game somewhat on an virtual drive, as someone at steam suggested. But this seemed to be quite awkward.

But saving the best for last: I found a solution to my problem, and it was surprisingly obvious.

I installed the game Tomb Raider: Legend on the system drive c:\ in the program files folder, and since then it has been working fine: without error messages, without compatibility mode, without administrator or other rights. Even the German voice output works without any problems.
