So I persuaded myself to purchase the game after viewing some old game play, and was pleased to find a strong community capable of dealing with the (expected) issues. I run Windows 7 here, and ran the installer- three icons now lay on the desktop. The patch 1.01 was downloaded and an attempt was made at applying it, but it did not work. Users here also reported a fail there (a sticky thread reveals that the installer already boots the game in 2.0).

My issues now:
*The opening cutscenes before the main menu play their sound, but freeze after a few frames. Esc puts these away, no big deal, but regrettable.

*Starting out in Lara's home the lovely tutorial voice tends to repeat itself according to the last instructions trigger. Very annoying. I assume this is what others talk about with the game music later.

*Pressing S in menu, cutscenes, or game play always crashes the game. This button is linked to taking screenshots apparently, and might be unavailable for user keys configuration. It reads:
Runtime Error!
Program: C:\GOGGAM~1\TOMBRA~1\TOMBRA~2\Tomb2. exe
abnormal program termination

So far these are all the bugs I'm getting; I'm hoping saving will not be muddled with mysterious game save locations. GOG mods seem to have said that the game must be run with admin through the start menu, or in the folder itself: I find no issue in booting from desktop (though the admin blue/yellow checker shield is present on those icons, and asks to always make changes to my hard drive before starting). GoG mods also say the game shouldn't be installed in Program files, well it isn't, but I'm curious why so in the first place.

It would be nice to solve these problems once and for all, as the issues keep springing up on this forum, with various patchwork answers.

Cheers,
Duke
