I was glad to see new games for my university-netbook . Tomb Raider. Problem is: They won't run :( TR1 uses DOSBox, and DOSBox need way to much performance for a netbook. TR2 works just fine - at least the one time I got it running.

When in the game, it works just fine and fast - but it crashes after maybe one second in the menu! Windwoed, fullscreen, different settings. Main menu - me, hammering on enter, hoping to get into the game before it crashes - but most times I'm too slow. And even if I was fast enough, I could only got to Laras Mansion.

What to do? :(

Oh, and starting TR3 gives me a message "Tom Raider III CD?".. Cannot start it either,,,,

@gog: Not your best release :(

I don't know what GOG did to get the CD music running in this game. Maybe it's related to that and crashes because you don't have a CD drive (it was like that for me in Incubation). Try installing a virtual CD drive like Daemon Tools (make double sure to deselect all the ad crap when installing!) or Virtual Clone Drive.
The music starts in this very second before crashing.

EDIT: Still it runs now - I just disabled sound in the setup menu. I still get sound and music, but it works... Great! Thank you!

EDIT 2: False alarm - it ran one time. Now I get no sound and the crashes are back. Damn!

--also, still the TR3 CD problem...

Hi there. Before I write anything else, I would like to suggest that you write a Support ticket so that our support guys and gals can take a look at this ASAP. Please make sure to include a DxDiag file as it really helps out.

Also, have you ran the game(s) as administrator and installed them outside of C:\Program Files ?

edit: I see that Lafazar has suggested the same thing I did but he/she did it first :P

How do I do DxDiag? (i'm a bit of a noob on this stuff) Me and some others on GOG are having problems with the CG cutscenes for Tomb Raiders 2 & 3 freezing and the music skipping on those scenes. The freezing cutscenes can be skipped by pressing Esc and then the game can be played as normal, but not having the cutscenes work really hurts.
Thanks in advance for help.

Just click on your Start button and type "DxDiag" (without quotes) in the Search bar. a few seconds later you'll see a DxDiag file pop up in the menu. When the dialog box opens up, you'll see a "Save All Information" button. Click that and a "Save As..." box will pop up. Save the Dxdiag to an easily accessible place (like the Desktop) and with your user name in the file name (in your case haydenaurionDxDiag.txt) and attach it to the support ticket.

Let me know if that helped :D.

I can confirm after testing on my own netbook that using a program like PowerISO will get rid of the TR3 CD problem.

Quick guide:

Download PowerISO.
Install
After install and restart, just double-click on the PowerISO icon and let the program run. You don't need to go through any mounting steps since it automatically mounts a virtual drive once it is started up.
Run the Setup utility for TR3
Enjoy the game.

I hope this helps.

I've installed DAEMON Tools - the game started, I played through Laras home. I was glad, I started the game once again for testing purposes - it crashed in the menu. Damn -.-

Also: "Run the Setup utility for TR3" - how? The game starts now, but crashes with the message, I should use the setup. Unless TR1 and TR2 there ist no setup.exe... :(

Look around in your Tomb Raider 3 directory and you should see an executable labeled Setup. Click on it and run it, choose your options, and you should be playing TR3 in no time.
There is no setup.exe - I had to start tomb3.exe with -setup. That worked.

Try looking under \Tomb Raider 3\Tools. The setup.exe is in the Tools subfolder. Let me know if that helps :D

No. There is no tools folder, there is no setup.exe.

But as I said, there is no need for it! Running tomb3.exe with -setup works just fine, no problem here!
