In the widescreen gaming forum it says that Tomb Raider II has no widescreen support. That is not true.

If you run setup you can set it to windowed mode with 16:9 aspect ratio. Ignore the resolution for now. If you then double click the title bar it will use your native desktop resolution (in my case 1920*1080).

Lara is shown well proportioned, in widescreen gaming speak the change is horizontal plus.

To get a fullscreen experience I fiddled with the windows theme settings to make the window borders as small as possible and set the task bar to auto-hide.

I then set my TV from pixel-perfect to 16:9 which results in zooming into the picture a little bit and cropping a bit of the border. Voila. Fullscreen experience in true widescreen.

Do you play this in windowed mode?
Because I only found out that it supports widescreen resolutions but it doesnt correct the aspect ratio or field of view.
I didn't mind to play it in 4:3, fullscreen 1400x1050 in my case, as I have a large screen and don't like stretched graphics.
It would be nice if there was a way to make this game true widescreen though.

Yes.

It does correct the aspect ratio and field of view if you play windowed 16:9. The image is not stretched in windowed mode. In fullscreen mode it will be stretched though.

Oh, that is awesome, I will try it then, thanks.
What about Tomb Raiders 3,4 and 5 widescreen?

3 supports widescreen but it's stretched, and you can't run it windowed like Tomb Raider 2 so that solution doesn't work.

Angel of Darkness supposedly has perfect widescreen support out of the box.

There is a Widescreen with Fullscreen solution available, don't know if it works with GOG versions though...

EDIT:
Yeah, works with GOG as well!
