vertex: So far I updated my debian system... *cough* tbh a pretty big development project prevents me from gaining enough energy to really pursue it. But what your EDIT states sounds awesome already! :-)

For the resolution - I didn't yet look up your link - just that much: it's always a good idea to install the "host machine extensions" (at least I think that's what it's called) in the virtual system running within VirtualBox. In my experience no virtual system runs smoothly without that - but I guess that's what your tutorial is about already.

Back to my pursue of VBox Win95: As I said my damn Setup CD doesn't boot anymore. It says there is no boot record on it - but since it's an original Microsoft CD, I think it's more likely that my CD is damaged. So I'm left without a installation medium :(
About "Host Machine Extensions", I need to inform that, on Virtual Box, this feature is named "Install Guest Additions", and is listed in the Devices option on the pannel that shows when a VM is running. But unfortunately, this feature is only available with Windows XP or newer Windows guest systems - so, not an option in case of a Win95 or Win98.

About your Windows 95 CD, perhaps it is not damaged at all; as far as I know, there is no bootable Win95 CD. You need to have a bootable floppy disk - you can download it on vetusware.com - download the image and mount it on VM's floppy drive to access the CD.

Argh.. you're right! I still have a BOOT95B.SCP here.. hmm.. mount as Floppy.. can't find that - only as CD-Rom..

And yeah, just looked at it - guest additions is called "Gasterweiterungen installieren..." on my system :D

/e: Found it.. had to add a disk controller to the VM.
/e2: my .SCP file doesn't work. I think this source is better than vetusware, where I could only find Win98 and was asked to register.. -> http://www.allbootdisks.com/download/iso.html
/e3: Meh, Win95 and 98 don't like me. Trying XP now -.-

/e4: Wheeeeeeeee!! Ohmygoshomygoshohmygosh [/dash] TR3 runs like a charm on Windows XP within VirtualBox :D

Yaaaay... [/shy] this is most amazingly awesome!

@piduca: that's been a most wonderful idea of yours :-)
