Alright... I had recently bought Tomb Raider 1, 2, & 3 off of GOG and used the official patch. While I can use my controller perfectly in Tomb Raider 2 & 3, Tomb Raider 1 is reading my controller as a four-button one instead of a 10-button one. It has the same number of buttons as a PS1 controller and have them in the same position.

However, when I try to use the DOSBox Keymapper, the game crashes on me. I would like to know of anything I could do to make my controller work with Tomb Raider 1 as I want it to. My controller is a Logitech Precision Gamepad.

the same problem. i have Logitech Wireless Rumble Pad with Direct Input mode.
I also have the same issue when it comes to using they keymapper for Tomb Raider 1. I know at the very least in order for DOSBOX to recognize controllers that have more than five buttons is to set the joystick variable to -ch or the CH Flightstick when using my 360 gamepad.

This applies to all DOSBOX emulated games, and in my experience works better than using any external program for controller mapping. If there is a way to change the keymappings outside of DOSBOX, it would be greatly appreciated.
Right. I was able to mess around a bit and was able to get a good Xbox 360 controller configuration that mimics the PS1 control scheme. II simply edited the configuration in another DOSBOX packaged game to create a mapper.txt file. Then paste that file in the folder for Tomb Raider 1, open the config file for the DOSBOX settings for that game and point the mapper file to mapper.txt (It's something else in what GOG distributes.) Then I replace the joystick settings with these:

joysticktype=ch
timed=false
autofire=false
swap34=false
buttonwrap=false

This allows to map to the D-Pad and analog triggers of the 360 controller. Then after ensuring the keys mapped successfully to each function, the game worked pretty well with the 360 controller.

Now if only Tomb Raider 2 and 3 allowed you to map buttons to the D-Pad as well.
