Just read that the new Tomb Raider releases on GOG should be remastered versions.

I've often wondered if it would be possible to update TR1 to use Direct3D. AFAIR it's the only TR game which doesn't support Direct3D.
I don't know if your asking a. Question but if you are no they are not remastered Tomb Raider 1 runs within DOSBOX TR2 and 3 run in windows
The GOG version uses 3D acceleration via a glide wrapper that allows you to play the 3dfx version on a modern graphics card. That is essentially equivalent to Direct3D support.

Oh okay, i don't know any of that or how it all works i just know the GOG version runs with in DOSBOX :)
Well, it was somewhat of an inquiry/suggestion on my behalf. Being a huge TR fan (got all the games as physical copies, including many of the expansions, as well as several digital copies) having a dedicated D3D front end for the first game, which IMHO is still the best, has been a long dream of mine. Much more than having TR: Anniversary.

I haven't used a Glide wrapper in ages, but back then it didn't really work particularly well. Perhaps it does now.

If you mean texture enhancement you should take a look at this.

Though you need to setup Tomb Raider to work with VDM Sound and Glidos instead of Dosbox and nGlide which GOG uses.

Unnessecary to say that GOG doesn't support all of this.

You mean it doesn't work 100% with this GOG ver.? How come?

And what does one need to use that 100% (and I assume it works at 100%, yes?)?

Wow! That Tomb Raider Xtra looks ace! I definitely have to check this out in further detail.
Would someone say why receive this issue, provided that everything is installed correctly.
So I can not save my settings and Tomb Raider 1 goes only to the original resolution. Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

Did you run the setup in Admin mode? That would cause this problem. because the setup needs to change files on your computer and Windows 7 will not allow it too do that unless you run it as admin

I solved this problem starting Graphic mode setup from control panel, but even keeping all options Tomb Raider 1 will not boot to 1920x1080 and start again on its native resolution, though I did not adjust. If anybody can help?

i'm sorry i just let it run in native just because running a game this old at that 1080 would just look horrible... sorry i don't have any advice though :(

But because I do not give simple yet found a way to run this game at least 1280x960 is how it works:
Enter the directory where you installed the game and open it with Notepad glide.ini there and change the following line:
From Resolution = 0.0
to become a Resolution = 2.0
Save and voila!
Well, not full HD, but still much better than the native resolution of the game.

The question has still got to be, why do you want to play this in HD? it will just look horrible... surely displaying it in it's native resolution is the best way to go... any higher surely the graphics will be stretch and look even worse then they already do?

Meaning of the whole operation is to play with 1280x960 resolution in full screen mode. I personally do not like to play games in a window, so I lost the presence of the game. However, one has to play in full screen mode game with resolution 1280x960, and another game is still the same 640x480 mode - right?
