Just got the great deal on the series in the daily Xmas deals:) Been trying TR 3 on PS1, and WAY too dark, in some areas....hard enough, without being able to see, and flares that run out quickly!

Anyhow, so never played series, expect on ps1....so fired up TR 1, for the first time in 15 years....love it....however.....cannot go out to Windows. Have to exit the game. Never played a game, where you could not do this. Major PIA

Any ideas?
Certainly; I had to find out myself.

To quit the game, from the main game, press ESC to bring up your inventory. Press down to to view the ring of options and select the passport. Press right/left until you find the quit to menu option. This will take you back to the main menu.

From the main menu, select the passport again and scroll through it to find "exit game."

I'm talking about minimizing it......the whole point is I don't want to quit the game, every time I want to go to the internet.......nowadays, many times, you want to check Gamefaqs, or You Tube....check your email.....etc. Pain in the butt, if you have to close and restart the game all the time. Big drain on laptop resources, too, I imagine.

Go to Programs and Features (Add/Remove Programs on XP) and uninstall DOSBoxnoalttab. You can then use Alt+Tab etc. as expected.
Thanks! Just trying out the game again and it worked....thanks again.

Thank you, that worked perfectly!
Well, crap, new problem....I can exit to Windows, but most times now, when I try to return, the game is the Dos Box size, and Alt/Enter isn't working to restore it....I have to keep closing the game down and starting again...VERY frustrating. Does this happen on any other Dos Box games? Usually they restore, but I'm guessing TR1's keyboard commands are interfering? Oddly, it seems my mouse pointer is still visible in the game, when it does work. The only time it works....it worked fine at first, but then this started happening....:(

Hmm... it happens to me occasionally as well, though only with Tomb Raider so far. Here's a couple of suggestions that may solve the problem for you:

1) Try returning to the game not by right click->Alt+Enter, but by Alt+Tab or WINDOWS+Tab. Most of the time, that did it for me.

2) Only Alt-Tab from the game to Windows or viceversa when the game is paused (that is, when you're in the inventory); whenever I had that problem, I noticed how Alt+Tab and Alt+Enter didn't work only when Lara was actually free to respond to the commands.

Sometimes, when it works, you may still see DOSBox's high menu bar on screen; if that happens, there should be an option somewhere on the bar itself to hide it. Look around in the menus. :)

Hope that helps!
