Tried to set the screen to 1980x1080 but reverts back to the default.

Is there a anyway to work around?

Try adding your resolution in the settings.txt you will find it in the C:\Users\(your name)\Documents\My Games\Titan Quest - Immortal Throne folder see if that help your issue, and set it read only just in case.

I tried that and it did not work for screen resolution. I was happy to see that I could permanently change the audio volume of the game using the settings.txt
