As in the title the intro movies (both before the menu and the one after creating a new character and starting a game with him) don't play. The game otherwise works like a charm. The strange thing is those movies play just fine if I open them in windows media player, from outside the game.
Yep, I have the same problem. The movies don't play at the beginning of the game.
Same issue, well that proves that it is indeed a bug.
I can confirm its the GOG release as I just installed the Steam release and the intro's played no problem.
I'm tempted to say be grateful. From what I remember of my disc copy, those vids were unskipable, (without file editing), and the intro is obnoxiously lengthy. YouTube it perhaps? I personally had the issue where the game simply wouldn't launch because GOG failed to included all the necessary distributables. Seems like CDProjekt just sorta cocked up this release all around.
I noticed the same thing though I don't really think it's a problem. The intro video is actually the same as the trailer which can be found on the store page (the one that is not for Immortal Throne). So watch it there instead and enjoy not having to wait for it when you want to play... :-.)
Not a deal breaker, but the intro movies are/were amazing at the time.
I didn't even know there were intro videos until I saw this post.

You could skip the intro movies. Had to have watch it once and then press space. With the steam release I was able to skip right away with pressing space. Truthfully one viewing was enough

If you really want to see them you can easily navigate to the main directory under movies and watch the intro and opening I believe (not at the computer) and you'll be good to go.

But makes you wonder if there is any other issues?

I'd say it would be quite surprising with this large an overhaul if it doesn't introduce new bugs. But now we now someone is actually supporting the game as opposed to how it's been for the last 5 years :-)
I am not sure but everything was fine in Steam version maybe that is the reason

The updated version does have intro movies and they are skippable.

I wish I had your optimism. "Darksiders 2 deathinitive edition" has been released here on GOG by the same company. It remains unplayable with a controller (prompts are not shown) until now. My mails and contact attempts have been completely ignored so far. When it comes to Nordic I tend to knock on wood - very often...

Even after the Sept. 1st update today my intro movie freezes after a few seconds of play so I hit esc to skip and carry on.

Well, weird, restarted the game again and now the videos playback fine. Don't know what changed, but it works.
