I saw some very interesting videos on Yoube from something named Kerplunk Gaming where the guy makes some Qucikstart through act 1 with single masteries. What he does is invest heavily in some skills early on and some combinations prove to be very effective. Others, not so much.

So far, Earth, Storm, Neidan, Nature, Rune, and Dream seem to be the most effective. Here is what he did:

Earth: Maxed Ring of Flame and then pumped Earth Enchantment, running around enemies to kill them with the aura's damage.

Nature: Maxed Call of the Wild and let the wolves do all the work, using the plague tree to debuff enemies.

Dream: Maxed Distortion Wave and used it as a crowd killer.

Neidan: Maxed Breath Attack and used it to attack crowds.

Storm: Maxed Squall and then pumped Static Discharge to clear out crowds.

Rune: Maxed Runic Mines.

In Warfare, he never touched Onslaught. In Rogue, he maxed Poison Gas Bomb, but only had one point in Calculated Strike. In Defense, he only put one point in both Batter and its addon. In Spirit, he never touched Ternion Attack, just using the Liche King and Life Drain. In Hunting, he maxed Wood Lore, but mainly used a spear, not a bow.

Judging from what I'm seeing on Youtube, to play an effective character, you need to choose certain skills in the beginning of the game to kill quickly and level up fast. I've also read online guides where certain skills are respeced
and the points spent on more important skills. And then later, some of those previously respeced skills are regained.

Depending on my masteries and chosen class:

-What are the best skills from each mastery for levelling up quickly in early game and through Normal?
-How do I know when to invest in more powerful skills?
-How can I properly synergize the second mastery with the skills I've chosen in the first one?
-How do I know when it's time to respec and get rid of skills I no longer need? When I do need to get them back later?
-What skills do I invest in when I play harder difficulties?

I would appreciate detailed answers.
