I had trouble getting the game to play properly at first. I was launching it through GOG Galaxy and it would boot up and show the dev logo, but when it got to the main title menu... it was just a blank screen with the sound still playing.

I closed an re-opened it several times and it still kept doing it. I then decided to go and try launching the .exe from the games folder and it worked perfectly. No black screen.

Was stumped at that point but then I went back into Galaxy and messed with a few setting for the game and stumbled upon what I believe was the issue. Seems if you have the "overlay" option turned on for the game (in which it stuff like achievements or messages pop up) it will give you the black screen like before. If you turn it off, it runs just fine (which would make sense if the .exe worked fine because it's not using that feature either).

It's not a big issue and doesn't really stop you from being able to play by turning off that feature... but it's definitely something that should be fixed.

I'm not able to reproduce this issue. What platform are you on? Can you tell me more about your computer?

I am on Windows 7 Professional 64bit

These are my specs:

Intel i7-3770 3.40GHZ
8.00 GB RAM
GeForce 8400GS
DirectX 11.0
This sounds similar to something I've seen before for other games on Steam. Funny enough, it happens with Steam overlay, which I imagine functions similarly to Galaxy overlay.

You might have some luck seeing if you have any game recording software running, and disable it, such as "Nvidia Gaming Experience".

If others have this problem, please let me know. I feel like this might be something that is specific to your computer, though.

I just got around to checking (been busy) and while I do have Nvidia Experience I'm not using any of the features and can't because I don't meet the requirements.

That rules that out as a reason for the issue.
Hello?
Well I recently upgraded my GPU to a GTX 1060 and now suddenly the issue is gone. I can play with the overlay no problem... That's really all I can say. Dunno why that made a difference.
I have an old graphics card from the AMD Radeon HD 6900 Series and I have to disable the Galaxy overlay in several games for them to run properly.
