Just bought this and when I first started the game all I got was a change in resolution, sound, and a black screen. Couldn't Alt-F4 out either, but that may be normal for the game.

Read the forums, saw all the Hyper-threading stuff, but before I tried all that I figured to try the easiest fix, change the game resolution to my native resolution.

I run at 1920x1080 on my desktop. Went digging for the screen res settings and eventually found the magic file that actually was read. That did it.

Firstly, user.ini under the /bin folder seems to be the settings file, but no matter what I changed, it didn't do anything.

user.ini under /UserConfigs/Default however DID change the resolution on startup.

After changing VIDEO_SizeX to 1920 and VIDEO_SizeY to 1080 in user.ini at that location everything worked.

Now to play some HL2 era shooting :)

Edit: If UserConfig doesn't exist in your folder structure, Just keep hitting <enter> until a new game starts. You can kill the process after that.
