I've previously only played Gwent in Witcher 3. I just bought Thronebreaker, purely for single player, and I'm somewhat confused by the menu option to enable or disable "Premium cards".

Why would I want to disable them? Do I *have* them? If not, are they something I need to buy with real-world money, like DLC?

Thanks!

Premium cards are directly linked to Gwent the online card game, and can be claimed in that game. If you're not interested in on-line, disable them, or if you're not sure what to do, just leave them enabled. They are discovered during your gameplay of Thronebreaker. There's no harm in just leaving them enabled anyway.
Premium cards option enables or disables animation effects for premium cards in Thronebreaker. By default it is enabled and all character cards like Reynard, Count Caldwell and various artifact and trinket cards are animated and have effects all the time whether they are in your hand, played on the game field or you check them up with mouse right-click. But you can disable this animation with this option. It's probably intended for very weak PCs to make the game run more smoothly on them or if you just don't like extra animation and it puts burden on your eyes.

Thanks! I somehow managed to ignore that fact that the setting was under Graphics options. Makes more sense now.
