Was enjoying the game, made it to like Day 17 (?) or so, sent an injured Bruno to investigate the Hospital (that I'd visited before, and assumed they would be able to help him) for a fix-up.

Walk him upstairs to go find a doctor, open a shut door -- not locked, nor did he bash it in, just opened a closed door -- and a nearby guy flips out, blocks Bruno from running, and kills him.

Suddenly my whole team takes a nose dive (they weren't well off, but they were holding it together, which I was enjoying), everybody's depressed, we have no more food because as soon as Bruno is killed and we go back to the house, OF COURSE bandits broke in, stole all our food and injured Anton! :D

Honestly, I felt a bit jaded from what I saw as a cheap shot (I learned not to use the "stealing hand" icon long ago, but I had no idea doors were booby-trapped so to speak), so I gave up. I sent Pavle in to enact some vengeful justice (he took down 2 gunners and a guy with a knife, all while only armed with a knife himself), then quit once he returned home "broken".

Not trying to say this is a terrible game, but man, what an annoying ending to my interesting first playthrough.

The hostility in the hospital might be a bug. I encountered a similar problem upon just going to the first floor: Several patients called for help and a soldier on guard shot me.

There is a thread about this at the developer's forum, but so far it has not been adressed by one of the team members.
Yeah, I've read similar reports, it's very likely a bug. It never happened to me, I could always go in the room behind the doctor and steal whatever I liked, as soon as nobody saw me but there are some people who got shot in the hospital for no good reason.
My second playthrough has been a lot better and for the most part I am enjoying the game, though a wish it were just ever so slightly easier as, while I get the theme they were going for, it almost makes me wonder why I'm playing if I have no chance of ever winning?

Anyway, made it to Day 20, the game decided "that's far enough" and suddenly the temperature has dropped significantly, once again offing poor Bruno with nothing I could do about it (have an upgraded heater and a second one that seems to do nothing), and my last 3 survivors are in dire straits. Still a little cheap shot-y, but I have to admit it was entertaining enough to bring me back for more :)

Also, now that I remember, multiple times the game has said "this place is dangerous" at the SAME time as "these people want to trade with you!". Apparently both statements are correct -- Katia found a guy who was happy to trade with her, but soon after thanking her he immediately shouted "you're not supposed to be here!!!!" and summoned his buddies to try and kill her :P

Wacky game...

In my opinion the game is extremely easy.

If you figure out a couple of tricks on what to build when, which resources are the highest priority and how to trade efficiently, the only way to lose is to get into unnecessary combat. Which, if you're playing the game right, is any combat at all (with the exception of the super market as it's an easy stealth kill).

If you don't play this game like it's a mixture of minecraft and COD, then you'll be fine.

I have to disagree with this.
Because if you play very defensively (not even kill the guy in the super market - I didn't have any weapons yet during my first attempt at the game and didn't know I was supposed to this early in the game), you quickly run out of resources and all that will be left on the map for scavenging will be places where you can trade, steal or - kill. But since you've already run out of resources, stealing and killing will be tough. Making it impossible to survive.

My second playthrough would have been going a lot better (were it not for the hotel issue I ran into and created a thread about) because I got that weapon from the kill in the super market. And yet more weapons and ammo from the hostiles in the hotel. Allowing me to easily fend off bandits.
I still struggle bringing enough resources, meds and food back to the shelter but with two guns and >20 ammo, at least the basic survival is covered.

I've had that happen where I was clicking through the trading interface and then clicked in the upper left corner to leave the courtyard I was in, which accidentally activated combat mode. The trader took exception to that and proceeded to wave a gun at me. I realized the problem, but wasn't able to rectify it in time to avoid getting shot; all subsequent attempts to cover the stuff the survivor had been carrying did not end well, but thankfully noone else died. That one was on me, though; not sure what's going on on your end.

To be fair, there of course is a chance that I f'ed up something, somehow, although there's an equally good chance that the game dun goofed as games are also imperfect no matter how hard we try to program them well :)

Still can't deny that this is a highly interesting game that's had me come back enough times to finally beat it, and replay with customized survivors (which I love) from the new patch. Despite any flaws, I'd still recommend this game to others to play, as while it has frustrated me on occasion, I've had more fun with it than not.
yup, same thing happened to me on my last run, up to then it was a dream run, plenty of good scavenging, no losses etc had a ton of stuff built and fully reinforced home. I went to the hospital to specifically donate some medical supplies (erroneously thinking that the components for medical supplies would be good to donate) when the dr didnt want my stuff I walked into the room behind him and then got shot. lol

okay, so i lose my best scavenger, alot of good supplies and a tool and have to deal with the hysterics of my survivors. so i thought ill go back, and donate some pills, yes... whole medicine, you know how valuble that stuff is. that should fix it with them, right? well, i get to the dr, am in process of donating the pills and i hear the guard yelling 'you're dead!'. im like.. wtf... im donating! i close the donor window and sure enough the guard kills me! thats two down for nothing!

im left with one broken sobbing hysterical survivor, one depressed and ready to be broken the next day. I got a lucky draw and got a new housemate that day who managed to hold the fort for the last 5 days till peace happened. funny thing is that new survivor got severely sick so i took him to the hospital, managed to cop a heal before the same guard tried to kill that one off too. how the hell did he know this new member who came after the supposed looting offense?

its this kind of stupidity where you're fighting the game mechanics that keep me from doing another run. seriously, that last week was silly, they are all fed, thanks to rats, warm, playing guitars and singing kum bah yah, and still all got severely sick.i even bartered for meds for two and still they got severely sick. they would have died despite all that in a day if the peace hadnt happened.

the mechanic for paralyzing depression is overdone.
