THartmann9374: No, you won't lose your saved games. All GOG Galaxy does is to scan your current game folders and "update" them. It only works if you bought the game on your account. For your spouse's account on your computer, they has to log in GOG Galaxy's account to update their games.
I was "skeptical" on using GOG Galaxy as I myself manually installed games. But I am glad I have GOG Galaxy to update my games.
It's like having Steam Client update your Steam games and you don't lose any saved games.
Thanks! I went ahead and installed GoG Galaxy and had it "scan" my games folder. It detected all my GoG games and proceeded to update them, wherein a handful of them failed with "SERVER ERROR." It is not coincidental that these were the same ones I could not update by installing the patches directly from the web site -- including Thimbleweed Park.
If I let the client be, it goes through these games over and over re-queueing, re-installing, and failing. The games are:
* Sam & Max Hit The Road
* Star Wars: TIE Fighter Collector's CD
* Star Wars: X-Wing
* The 11th Hour
* Thimbleweed Park
It's funny that "Star Wars: TIE Fighter" succeeded and the "Collector's CD" for it failed; while "Star Wars: X-Wing" failed and its "Collector's CD" succeeded. Likewise, the "7th Guest" updated nicely but "The 11th Hour" could not.
I'm on Mac OS X 10.8.5. Any ideas?
By the Way GoG Galaxy looks sleek and cool, and I like having my games in an organized "library." :)
UPDATE:
Oh, I forgot to say that the GoG Galaxy client itself, upon starting for the first time, gave me an error about not being able to update to the latest version. It ran fine after that, but it's just another weird "update" issue...
