Saying it is a console port and full of bugs?
This question / problem has been solved by KiNgBrAdLeY7image
Thing feels and plays as a console port, deviating from the well established 1 and 2. Much shorter levels, much smaller, hastily designed too, full of loading times, lack of gameplay features such as swimming and rope arrows, no sword but dagger (even though more stylish and thievish, you were completely robbed of the option for straight combat and blocking) and stuff like that. The differences, or more precisely, the lack of features and style, quality if you will, are easily noticeable, especially to old timers. The cradle though was somehow very well designed and quite large (for the capabilities of the game and game engine)...
T3 Gold (included in the Sneaky update) fixes up a lot of that.

The Shalebridge Cradle wasn't the only great mission in the game. While the majority of locations did feel small, there were still some true classics, such as the Museum and the Seaside Manor. They are among my favorite in the series.

Speaking of the series, Thief 1 and 2 had their share of smaller levels as well. However, Thief 2 definitely had the best in the series.

I haven't finished Thief 4. My computer crashed half-way through. It's a departure from the classic Thief gameplay in some ways, but most of what I saw seemed promising. Especially considering the game's troubled development.
There's nothing inherently wrong with the game, it's just that it didn't live up to previous' entries level designs. That said, they did try new things that didn't mess with the game's identity: no more rope arrows, but you get climbing gloves; a hub city, etc. You could say the game was 'consolized', but the stealth gameplay is still tight, as well as the storytelling. And it's still leagues beyond the disappointing reboot/sequel/remake.
My least favorite part is the city hub areas. I hate having such limited space to sneak from guards to do the simplest thing between every single mission.
