Hi. I need help with getting Thief 2 running on high a high resolution.

1. Any guidance on how to accomplish this?
2. I've heard that there is a clunky shift between resolutions when you read a piece of parchment or sign. Is this true, if so is there a fix?
3. When I downloaded the game I saw 2 versions of the game, the "DDfix ver." and the "no DDfix ver.". Can someone explain this to me?

Thank you.

1. Use Tafferpatcher. You get to select the desired resolution from a list.
2. The clunky mode switch is only with the original game. With ddfix there is no mode switching at all.
3. Ignore those and just start the game using the Thief2.exe that comes with Tafferpatcher.

To better explain, DDFix is used to fix various graphical anomolies that have cropped up over the years due to more recent cards and drivers. The version included in the GOG version is not the latest version because they were unable to determine the licensing for the latest version. Tafferpatcher does include the latest version (including widescreen/other resolution patching), but if you just want DDFix and not the rest of the patches included there, look here: http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=121449 (This link also explains exactly what DDFix does)

For your second question, the first two games switch to 640x480 resolution when reading notes and such. If you used a higher resolution, this can cause awkward hitching or even crashes on many displays. This is one of the things fixed with DDFix.

Elmofongo: snip
I know this is an old thread. I really need to check back here more often.

The GOGWiki should explain everything pretty well. If you have any trouble with it let me or anyone else know and we can try and clarify the information that's already there.
