So, how do I let go off ladders and not lose half of my life points? because it made me fall all the way down when i press space. Also: How do I search bodies?
hit the crouch button to detach from ladders. to search bodies, highlight whatever they have attached to their belts, and pick it up like any other item.

oh ok, thanks... i just blackjacked the drunk guard at the beginning and then daggered him to death. he has a key but i can't quite manage to get it off him...
killing is unnecessary, and generally discouraged. you should be able to pick items off of both unaware living, and unconscious AIs. maybe check the game options for the autoloot bodies option, but I'm not sure whether it works in TG off the bat.

Never mind, made it. Thanks for the help and is there a penalty for causing mayhem? Because i find it way more easy to place an arrow in a civilians head rather than trying to sneak past him.

It's been quite some time since I played Thief 1, but from what I can remember, the idea of the game is that you are a thief and not a murderer (you aren't an evil character, you just don't make an honest living). As such, when you play on the harder difficulties some of the mission objectives are to not kill, so you'll fail the mission if you do. On the easiest difficulty, though, you can kill as many guards and civilians as you want, but you'll have to deal with the mayhem you cause such as when guards call in their buddies to help out.

EDIT: Oh, I think the monsters (zombies, giant spiders, etc) you can kill regardless of difficulty.

Be careful. I once blackjacked a guard, carried him into another room, set him down, and got "mission failed". Took me forever to realize I was setting him down in a pool and he kept drowning.

Me too. XD That was the one and only time I ever played that game on the 'hard' setting.
