Hi,

This is NOT a problem I have with the GOG.com version of thief gold. I am looking for someone to help me out with the installation of the CD version of this game, and since this is probably the most populated thief forum as of right now, I figured I would try here first.

I recently bought a copy of 'Thief Gold' from ebay, and I made sure to follow the general instructions to install the game. I ran the install using the -lghtforce command in cmnd prompt, witch lets the installer begin, but after the install setup is complete, it says that it is checking for DirectX components and then it crashes and blue screens my computer!

I'm then left with a broken installation that cannot be uninstalled, forcing me to manually delete the game folder and the games registry key:( I've tried it three times, and every time at the end of the setup it blue screens my computer! I'm getting nervous about trying to install it any more as I don't want to damage my PC, and I have found nothing on the web about this problem.

Please, if someone can help me I would really appreciate it!

My Specs Are:
Windows Vista 32bit
AMD 64 X2 Dual-Core 4600+
4 Gigs of RAM
Geforce 9800 GT running on the 285.62 drivers

try installing in safemode, and try setting win9x compatibility on the setup.exe. if that won't help, you can install the game on some other machine (parents, friends, school, work etc), copy over the game folder to your pc, and make it portable with the fix from the sticky.
Thanks Voodoo47!

running it in safe-mode worked! I was able to start the game and install the ddfix no problem!

I have one last question, now when running the game the mouse seems to be extremely jerky, is there any way to remedy this?

Once again, thank you very much for the help! I appreciate it!
uhh.. clean the mouse? seriously, no idea. maybe try playing with the sensitivity slider for a bit..?
