Hello everybody,

I have been trying to play Thief 3 but there is a problem: in the menu and in-game, the cursor and characters keep moving up and left.

For instance, in the menu, if I scroll down, it will scroll up immediately. In game, the character will move forward and left even if I don't touch the keyboard.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the game, I applied the unofficial patch (I tried with and without the sneaky patch). Nothing changed. No gamepad is plugged in.

Has anyone encountered this issue? Do you know what I can do?

Thanks
Gilou

Edit: adding details

How is this supposed to help me? This is the sneaky patch I installed but it did not change anything.
What a weird bug - do you get it too if you run the original, unpatched game?

Edit: Try looking here. Apparently the game can receive spurious gamepad input?!

It is even weirder than you imagine. I checked your link and then launched the game to apply the solution; only to discover that the problem was already solved.

BUT I could not reassign keys of the keyboard, except for moving keys and I could only click on it and have the value -JoyX and JoyX.

AND I relaunched the game and the moving left forward issue is back, although I removed any JOY reference of the controls list.
It sounds like the game is still receiving analogue input. Are you up for a bit of testing? I can see if a fix is possible and provide a beta. If you are, then please stop trying to fix it for now. :)

Btw. the Sneaky Upgrade 1.1.5 (with classic briefing videos) should be out next weekend at the latest. If you're going to play Thief 3 Gold, then you should definitely wait for that.

Thanks for the heads up on the update

To anyone who may stumble onto that thread with hope, I forward the technical tip from GoG tech support : "Please try removing the Wiimote and check if the issue persists". At 1st I thought it was a stupid idea since the wiimote was not on; the bluetooth was off. But I removed the Wiimote from the system in the panel control and it seems to work.

So I guess the advice is to remove or deactivate all other controllers
