Hi everyone

I finished Thief Gold with the default sound settings i.e. no directional sound and it wasn't a great experience for a stealth game. Now I started Thief 2 and I'm trying to get directional sound working. I have a simple on-board sound card (Realtek ALC892). First thing I noticed (before messing with the sound settings) is that the left/right channels are switched when I do the speaker test, so I enable "Reverse Stereo" and the test runs ok. This doesn't change anything in-game because directional sound is not activated yet. Also note that my speakers are positioned correctly.

Now to get directional sound I tried both OpenAL and Creative ALchemy Universal. Both work and I can enable EAX, but... when I play the game Left/Right channels are switched. Toggling "Reverse Stereo" on/off has zero effect in-game. Does anyone know what do I have to do to get proper directional sound?

Nevermind, I found the issue. I use a 2-port audio switch and it seems the RCA inputs are reversed from the factory (red should be black, black should be red). I just switched the cable around and it's all nice and dandy.
