Well looks like I have something else to go through and play! :)
Just downrep the obvious troll and move on with your lives.

As for me, I need to find the time to get in on this Dark Mod action.
Installed it today, and even though I have a really limited amount of free time during weekdays, I'm still looking forward to spending some of the dark October/November (December...) evenings with this game.
According to the Wikipedia entry, there seems to be a campaign called The Crucible of Omens being developed for this mod, so it might be something to look forward to for those who prefer full campaigns over missions.

It will take some time for The Crucible of Omens to finish. In the meantime, you can try out No Honor Among Thieves, a mini-campaign of three connected missions. It was just re-released for TDM 2.0 and offers much in terms of graphics and gameplay. Also, the stuff you find is correctly carried over to the next missions, just like in the original Thief games.
Thanks for the info! :-)
So finally got to the game now (lack of time after release) and it looks like a new stuff to play during winter.

First mission - A Score to Settle - beaten and really liked it.

Now I made some update for mission (updating TDM 2.0 itself is somewhat confusing at this moment).
Is these updates for making them "more compatible" with TDM 2.0?
Because I read, on the release day, there were some minor problems with some missions.
Couldn't find details...
yeah, better check whether the mission is 2.0 ready before downloading.

Is anyone working on a remake/total conversion of Thief 1 and 2 campaigns? (assuming they would have to have some way of requiring original files in some way; sound?).

It might also be interesting to see Thief 3 'remade' with features added (although adding rope arrows might still be rather pointless). But related levels combined into one with no load times between areas might be interesting.
as far as I know, no - it seems like TDM FM authors have no interest in recreating the original campaigns, seeing it just as copying something that already exists instead of creating something new and original. also, remaking all three games would be quite an undertaking - probably not something a single person can handle.

but yeah, I would love to see it happen, especially for Thief3 - imagine the game with overhauled levels, swimmable water, rope arrows, no loading zones and all the other wrinkles ironed out. *insert shut up and take my money picture here*

Missions from Thief 1 & 2
I'd love to see swimming added to thief 3 just for the hell off it! Sure no levels would utilize it to any potential, but at least it would be consistent with previous games. For rope arrows to be useful designer would probably have add wooden beams above areas that you can use climbing gloved, and maybe add in some other alternate routes into the buildings via windows?

Am I the only that wishes for an Assassin's Creed 1 remake with swimming and more and better scripted missions? Maybe something for finding all of the flags?

Maybe merged with AC Bloodlines remade in HD with larger and better level designs for Cyprus, one single city rather than loading screens ala Brotherhood?. I'm personally looking forward to AC3: Liberation HD. I like the I'd of ports of the morr obscure games.
I was under the impression that as long as you require the original datafiles to run your remake/mod/port, you should be safe - if that was not the case, TafferPatcher, TFix and pretty much all the Doom, Heretic, Hexen, Rise of the Triad, Duke3D etc ports out there would be in serious trouble, but maybe they just want to be on a super safe side of things.

Yes, that's my understanding as well. I think it's more that they have no interest in recreating the original campaigns, as you said, and it's just an additional excuse to use. The Thief 4 release may have them be especially cautious as well.

I believe there was once a project to reverse engineer the Dark Engine (though NewDark has probably made it seem less worthwhile). It would have been designed to use the Dark Engine's asset and scripting formats. If you wanted something analogous to a Doom or Build Engine source port for T1/T2, that's where you should start, not with TDM's id Tech 4 heritage.
