I just wanted to say thanks for releasing this game. It was my first introduction to the stealth genre and I played it all the time back when I was thirteen years old. Once I fired the game up it brought back a lot of memories! :D

Looks like I'm going to the Bear Pits tomorrow
Yes. I must also say thanks for this! So many fond memories ... oddly also when I was 13!
I don't know...

As above, thanks for this release. Was one of the ones I have been holding out for for ages, and is a true Good Old Game!
Agreed. I bought the original Thief (twice because I don't share and my wife wanted to play).
I then bought 2 copies of Thief Gold and two copies of Thief 2. I only bought 1 copy of Thief 3. But also bought about 5 copies of Thief 2 as gifts and have spent a fair amount of time today telling folks that GoG now sells Thief 1. I still own them all, but repurchased on GoG as a way of saying thanks for bringing good game titles to fans in a way that doesn't punish them with silly DRM. I hope to be able to purchase Thief 4 here when that time comes as well ;)

Yeah, I have 3 copies of Thief 2 floating around. It's kind of embarrassing. I kept losing them, rebuying them, then finding the ones I'd lost.

Looks like I'll be buying at least one more copy...
Yes, big thanks to GOG and Square Enix. This is my 7th copy of Thief that I own (now 3 of which are the Gold edition), and this is my favourite due to being a completely no-cd solution :-)
What is wrong here...

Your thanking GoG for charging you $10 for a 14yr old game that is included with the other 2 games in the series for the same money...

Google "Thief: the Complete Collection"

People enjoy the service, what's wrong with that.

The issue isn't whither people are enjoying the service, its the fact GoG are charging the same money one game that you can buy all three for(google thief the complete collection), and not only that GoG didn't patch the game correctly to run on modern hardware..

Tons of people re-buy games here just to support CD Projekt, not even intending to play the game. Buying it for $10 here isn't all that different. Sometimes GOG leaves it up to the community and will sticky threads that detail how to fix/enhance the game.

There is nothing wrong here at all.

Was this actually done though? did GoG mention that the Compliation was available for $10 and on the subject why the hell didnt GoG release that. In fact if they had worked with the thief community over on www.ttlg.com before releasing we could have helped them make sure the game/s were patched and working.

Because GOG doesn't choose what they release, Square Enix does.

Ah fair enough, some of my anger should be directed at them for blatantly taking the piss.

I own all three Thief games on disc and I bought this immediately when I saw it this morning. My reasoning? A combination of giving a little more money to one of my favorite game series, convenience of having DRM / disc free versions (plus goodies!), and supporting GOG since I love what they're doing.

And I'll buy the next two as well :D
