Here are the movies for the Thief games, re-encoded in VP6 by deathshadow at the TTLG forums (http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=122477&p=2110802). If you tried installing and registering the Indeo codec, tried ddfix, and tried screaming obscenities at your computer, all to no avail, then try this. VP6 is pretty much the standard for Flash-based video, so I'd be surprised if somebody out there doesn't have the codec installed and working correctly. Keep in mind that you'll have to run the games as administrator (as is true with other solutions).

Thanks bVork!

Downloading now. Will report back.

Nope, no luck unfortunately - even after downloading the VP6 codec. mentioned in the ttlg.com thread at http://www.free-codecs.com/download/vp6.htm

Are you sure you ran Thief as administrator? You won't get any video without doing that.
Yep, sure did.

When I opened the movie files in Windows Media Player, the sound played fine but only a static image of the first frame appeared. Which I guess is progress since a few hours ago it wasn't displaying anything :P

Sounds like you're missing codecs that really should be installed. Try grabbing the Combined Community Codec Pack: http://www.cccp-project.net/
Just downloaded and installed them.
Still no movies in game and audio only in WMP.

Thanks for the assistance bVork, but I think I'll just uninstall and forget about it.
I've tried every single method described on the internet for getting the videos in Thief to run and absolutely nothing has worked. And even the videos reencoded in an entirely different codec does nothing. Some things just weren't mean to be apparently.

Can you view the videos in Media Player Classic or Windows Media Player?
Media player classic and windows media player and vlc player play the original and reencoded videos fine.
Do you have anything like ffdshow installed? If so, try adding the thief exe to their exclusion lists.

The files are named by mission, so if all else fails you can just alt-tab out and watch the movies in media player at the appropriate times. Slightly immersion breaking, but better than nothing.

Damn, I got excited because that was something new I didn't think to try but it didn't have any effect.

Not that it matters much in your case since MPC and WMP give the same result, but VLC has its own internal codecs and doesn't rely on what is registered in Windows. You can't use it to judge whether something should play elsewhere.
I tried this, and they load fine in WMP. The screen looks like it;s trying to load the movies when the game loads, but nothing happens. Tried everything that people mention, no help. Windows 7 professional. 64 bit.

Did you try TGFix? (The sticky at the top of the board.)
Like I said tried everything. Including uninstalling, runing without tgfix, reinsrtalling and using tgfix, reencoded videois w/wo tgfix, newest ddfix, etc.
