Hey all,

I just updated my install for T2, and none of my buttons work for combat or interaction! I can't swing my sword or blackjack, fire an arrow, or even open a door. The weapons I select aren't even showing up on screen.

Please help! I don't think I can play the game this way...

sounds like a bad install - try reinstalling the game, and make sure it's not inside program files.

This happened to me too, because Avast antivirus took away a file from the install. I had to redownload Thief II, and then deactivate Avast before installing. After the installation I activated Avast again and then it all worked.

It seems what I wrote I did in my former post wasn't enough - when I switch on Avast again it somehow interferes with the game. Thumpybass, if you are using Avast like me, you have to first turn off Avast while installing it, then after install, you have to make an exclude for the Thief 2 directory in the File System Shield excludes list. Now you should be able to see the weapons show up. It seems to work for me, after having ran and quit the game multiple times.

**update**

I've scanned the Thief 2 directory now with Trend Micro Housecall online scanner, just to make sure it doesn't contain a virus - and it showed no threats.

It should be a false positive on Avast's behalf then, and it would then be safe to do as I mentioned in the former post.
