Hey, to confirm, this version of Thief will work with all of the fan missions and such, correct? Can't see why it wouldn't, but I just wanted to be sure before I bought it. :)
Where do we get those mods/missions?
The Keep of Metal and Gold compiled what seems like all Thief mods ever, with many bonuses, into a DVD-size package:

There's also Cheap Thief Missions. I used to use this site all the time back in the day. Now I'll be visiting this and KoMaG again. ;)
you will want to use GarretLoader

http://thief.wikia.com/wiki/GarrettLoader

If you use GarretLoader, it will automate all the save files and loading and unloading of files. Addtionally, it will make it easy to play TDP missions on TG. Its very easy to use and has a ton of features.

Additioanlly, check out Thief-thecircle.com (check out the patches section too as it has the texture patch and a few other goodies)

I believe thiefmissions.com is the most current and extensive. Komags (keep of metal and gold) site was really good, but I think he was the first to stop updating, so he likely is missing the most current.

Most of these sites sort of went dead (no user activity) in the past few months, but the missions still remain available.

Not _entirely_ dead; thiefmissions still does loads of traffic. I just never can quite get caught up. Maybe this GOG action will be the impetus I need. And you never know, there just might be something special there for people who know what to look for.

There are still loads of great things going on in the Thief community.

Ah! I meant dead as in uploads (users as in authors). I haven't seen a new mission since November, and the other two sites actually posted somewhat farewell letters while the sites still do function.

Glad to see you are still around ;)
I actually still have stuff to put up, and new missions are still coming out. Plus there is a tonne of activity with the Dark Mod. They have an internal FM hosting/loading structure so there's not much that would go on thiefmissions anyway.

In any case, in the context of Thief Gold, I think thiefmissions is actually complete since TG missions are somewhat rare these days.

And here is list of fanmissions on TTLG in a well arranged manner, so it would be easy to find missions to your taste (horror, special category, etc...)

I wholeheartedly recommend section "Most often recommended/Must play"

To download specific missions, you can use this site

http://www.ttlg.de/de/download/navigation/FM-Download.xml

I, personally, played thus far only these fm (fanmissions):

7th Crystal
Seven sisters
Seven shades of mercury
Ominous Bequest Gold
Broken Triad

And all of them were brilliant in their own way (lots of new assets and music, better textures, not to mention captivating stories)

And yes you do need Darkloader or Garretloader program (mission installer and manager utility) to run the fanmission. Don´t worry, they are quite easy to getting used to.

These are in fact brilliant (haven't played SSoM though), but you'll have to wait for Thief 2 to come to GOG. I'm sure there are excellent fan missions for Thief Gold, but it's been so long I'd have to go back and check which ones to recommend.

You´re right, these are Thief 2 fan missions, but I doesn´t have to wait :) Some time ago, I´ve bought Anthology DVD (Thief Gold, Thief2 and 3 fully patched) for a few bucks, but I´m gonna buy it on GOG nonetheless, just to support GOG business model and as a safe copy.
Wow, it took three days for someone to redeem the gift code sitting on the front page of thiefmissions. Congrats to the lucky winner.

More codes will follow, but I'd really rather be giving out Thief 2 codes. Come on, GOG, don't make us wait too long!
I played "all" (but not those that sounded bad) Thief 1 fan missions a few years back and I must say Calandra's Cistern was in a class of its own.
So anyone looking for good fan missions, don't miss out on that one.

There are many other good once, but I don't recall their names now.

Well, here is a relatively complete list.

Looking through it and trying to remember back to when I played some of these over a decade ago, some good ones:

Calendra's Cistern
Order of the Vine
Trial by Night
Ranstall Keep
Bloodstone Prison
Hush.... Hush, Sweet Harlot

But those probably aren't the best ones. A lot of the old T1 missions actually have ratings on thiefmissions, and while they're scaled back to what the state of the art in Thief mission design was back in 2000, they're still a useful representation.
