i've gotten the game in the past but every time i tried to play it on my computer tge game froze.

i bought the game twice and i'd still have the same problem with each time, and i'd sent the game back both times.

now it's here and i really want to play it after all these years but i'm afraid i'd run into the same problem with the game freezing.

anybody know what i can do to make sure it doesn't freeze on my computer?

Edit:
The game works fine, thanks GOG.com!

It'll probably work. Is your computer really old?
There are several fan-made fixes you can apply to help get the game working, discussed in the sticky thread. These seem to fix all problems for most people. What OS are you running? It's easier to get working on Windows 7 than Windows XP.
i bet all you have to do is set CPU affinity to a single core, if you have a multicore CPU.

the original demo version runs flawlessly on my W7x64 Sandy Bridge system as long as i confine the .exe to a single core.

According to these forums, the GOG version has his built in. So that part should work fine.

The problems the GOG version still has are that the videos don't play unless you apply a simple codec fix (details in the sticky thread), and if you want widescreen resolutions you also need to apply a fan fix (also in the sticky thread).

That was added to the new build yesterday.
The game freezing is due to it not liking multiple-core cpu's. This has been fixed in GOG's release, so it should all be fine. If that still is a problem, there's a simple fix we can perform anyway.

Awesome! I guess that means I have to re-download? I haven't actually installed it yet but I did download it.

Nope.
