I'm currently on the mission "Into the Bonehoard", playing on expert. I'm fairly far in, close to the Horn of Quintus. Unfortunately, I was ambushed by a Burrick and died. Normally, I just reload, except being on autopilot, I hit save instead and overwrote my game. Now I've got a save that takes me straight to the game over screen. Is there any way to recover my progress, even if it means using a cheat? I really don't want to have to replay the entire Bonehoard level.

And yes, I know the standard line about multiple save files.

CTRL-ALT-SHIFT-END (level skip)

Start a new game, and then skip levels back to the level you want to be on.

or load an earlier save before the level, and skip to the level.

I don't think there is a 'ressurection code' so you'll have to play the entire level again...

I'm having a similar problem, except the game crashes when I try to load my save. I had acquired a large amount of loot in the prior map, however, so this would make me lose all of that. Is there a way to edit a save to give myself extra money?

If I have to alter values in a game, like in your case the amount of money, I usually do this in-game with Poke. It's a very versatile little tool, that should be able to give you the money back.

Poke did not work for me. However, this did:

Open up the file ''dark.cfg'' in the Thief II folder with notepad and add this line at the bottom.

cash_ bonus X

Just replace the X with any amount you want and you will start with that amount of cash when you're at the equipment purchasing menu.
