I've installed TFix on my Steam version of Thief Gold. But when I try to play the game, an error message saying ''Resolution in cam.cfg does not match the given ddfix.ini''. What can I do?

During patch installation, I had a few error messages, mainly about .dll files I chose to skip, and an option to turn off AA which I refused.

Can anyone help?
unsurprisingly, this is a result of the patching process not completing properly. the only way I can imagine of this happening is that you have the game files set to read only (maybe in program files?) - TFix is not doing anything complicated, once the config is chosen, it simply dumps the new files and folders into your Thief folder, and as long as everything is copied over successfully, everything will work.

anyway, those error messages would be helpful.

Thanks for the reply!

I uninstalled and reinstalled the the game. Its runs perfectly without the patch, but looks really bad. Anyway, I had a modified .exe in my Thief folder near my Thiefgold.exe. The modified thief.exe worked but crashed after I tried to load.

Those error messages were that some .dll files and some .exe files could not be opened. I'm afraid I can't get any more now.
that does not help much. anyway, as I've said, as long as your Thief install is not read only, you just point the patcher at your thief.exe, select the desired mods, apply, and it's done, it's so simple that there is virtually no way it can fail.

maybe some sort of crazy antivirus is blocking the process?
Ok, tried to patch again. These are the messages:

''Error in opening file for writing''
(With these files)
D3DX9_43.dll
FMselect.bat
Thief.exe
enhanced.bat
ffmpeg.bat
fmsel.dll
ir41_32.dll
ir_5032.dll
lgvid.dll
safemode.bat
DOCFMSEL.pdf
MicrosoftVC90.CRT

Can anyone help me?
three things come to mind - read-only (Thief) folder, a corrupted (TFix) download, and a overzealous antivirus interfering with the patching process (I'd put my bets on the antivirus, as the blocked files are exes, dlls and bats mostly).

also, I think you've mentioned that you are on some dodgy internet connection. try downloading the GOG patch from here, it's only 6MB and it should contain all the missing files - extract it to your Thief folder, overwrite if necessary (with the exception of cam_ext.cfg, do make sure to not overwrite or replace that one), and you should be up and running.
How can I change that? The antivirus? I've changed my folder to un-read only (you were right, it was read only) but it resets for some reason. After I apply and click OK, it resets the next time I look.
that is a question for whoever is managing your pc.

have you tried the archive I've linked?
