Yes...another request by me to know if anyone has seen a particular piece of info.

As I recall, a fan called Taffer wrote an in depth walkthrough of Thief 2. (It's available on gamefaqs.com and elsewhere.) However, he never got past mission 5 (Eavesdropping).

In any case, on a forum thread someone asked about premission equipment purchases for the remaining missions (6-15), and someone gave a list of recommendations covered by bars for each mission where you can buy equipment beforehand.

Many fans state that they regard shop purchases as useless as equipment is available during the missions. This may be true, but I would still like to know if anyone has seen this post. I thought it was on ttlg.com, but I can't find it running any search on there.

Thanks in advance.
Haven't seen the post, but I think it's worth buying equipment unless you remember where all the equipment is. I usually like to buy a few extra water arrows, maybe a health potion for two if I'm not ghosting. Moss arrows can be handy too especially on levels like the bank.

Don't buy any broadheads or fire arrows though, they're mostly unnecessary.
Water arrows- get a lot of them
Undead levels: get even more water arrows, fire arrows and one or two lots of holy water.
Don't bother with noisemakers. Broadheads are just as good.
You usually start the level with enough broadheads, so only buy them if you have just enough gold left to buy one and can't afford anything else.
Health potions and mines, etc are for combat players. I find in Thief Gold at least, you can find plenty of Health potions within the levels (sometimes as many as 10 on expert).
Flashbombs are great if you don't want to save scum when caught.
Moss if good if you don't want to creep crawl. Depends on the level, but the bank has a lot of tiles for example.
Gas arrows are nice, but very expensive.
Rope arrows: don't buy more than 1 or perhaps 2, as you can retrieve them.
Tafferwocky, If we were talking about thief 1, then I would agree with recomending bringing lots of water arrows, however were talking about thief 2 which has pretty much little to no undead levels, with the ocasional ghost in a level.

Anyways, To add on to Taffers list, noise arrows are diffrent than broad head arrows as they can bounce off of surfaces, which makes guards investigate in a far off corner without having to make you go out in the open and risk a detection.

Yeah, my advice was in general (Thief Gold and Fan missions included).

And yes indeed, they do bounce but I never find them enormously useful.

Yes, but in Thief 2 water arrows can be useful for taking out the robots (by shooting them in their furnaces). And of course water arrows are always useful for extinguishing torches.

Correct. I found myself buying and using water arrows all the way through Thief 2 almost as much as 1. As the game went on there were on average fewer torches and lamps (more electric lights), but more of Karras' Children to use them on.

Wow, I never actually knew about that, usually when I'm in a area that has those robots I usually just sneak pass, in that case I would agree with bringing water arrows since those enemies are in so many of the levels.

I think that in one of the first levels to feature the robots, there's a book Garret can find that explains that the robots shut down if a lot of water gets into their furnaces. I think that's the only hint that he can take them out with water arrows. In practice it's actually tricky to do, since the way the robots walk makes their furnaces difficult to hit sometimes.
Water arrows are a must for sure, moss arrows can also be helpful, especially in Mechanist themed levels. Flash bombs can be useful too for when you are in a pinch. Plus, if a guard is blinded by a flash bomb, you can KO him with the blackjack even if he has entered combat with you.
