From what I see in the previews the game looks like a return to most everything that made the first two games great. Rope arrows, lots of ways to get around things.

They have at least so far claiming to make the new superhuman extra-sensory abilities 'optional' and able to be turned off, if people want to play classic style.

On the other hand... Garret's new voice actor sucks... But its not so terrible that it will rip me out of the story.

I like the idea that this game we may actually get to see the Baron, who was mentioned quite a bit in first two games.

Will there be a return of mechanical type security systems from Thief 2?

Some of the interviews have said that this game won't focus too much on supernatural , but will still have some supernatural aspects to the story. Does this mean its leaning more towards Thief 2, which was largely more 'industrial/steam punk', than first and third which were more medieval/mystical?
I'm not the most optimistic of guys when it comes to reboots and suches, but so far there hasn't been any particularly bad reveals that have eroded my faith in the new game, so I'm still anticipating it.

...And knowing my luck, tomorrow they'll probably reveal that it's third person only.

So apparently they dumped quick time and experience (which according to the article would have encouraged combat). Perhaps there is hope, but they still dumped Steve Russell.

Great news.
Eidos gave us Deus Ex and the Thief trilogy, all of which were arguably really good games. So I'd like to think that they'd give lots of care and attention to such a beloved franchise as this one, especially considering the pedigree
