Just a question, will GoG be adding Theme Park World to the website? I actually prefer Theme Park world over the original.
My guess would be a solid yes.

I think you'll eventually see this show up middle of 2014 or so, but that's just a guess.
Should Theme Park World (Sim Theme Park) ever see the light of day on GOG, I'd love for a new server to be setup for the long turned off online mode

The online mode had email postcards and other social related features but the main draw was the possibility for players to share their own parks with other players around the 'WORLD', hence the name, unless you lived in the US region. :p

Not sure if the game engine would work with modern internet connections though as it was built for the era of 56k dialup and wow I can remember how long it took to connect with my old Windows 98 Tiny PC - over 30 minutes!

Well to be honest, while GOG does make sure their games run fine on all their test machines, I doubt GOG would go out of their way to fix multiplayer issues. You're welcome to try out whatever you can, and report back to us when the game is released, hopefully at some point this year.
It would be great to have Theme Park World on GOG.com!
I would love a working copy. I have the CD but can't get it to install properly on Windows 7 64-bit and it's not quite working yet on my Win98 VM. Game starts to launch, but then the DRM can't find the CD in spite of it being in the physical drive passed through to the VM.

I torrented a version to try out with http://www.zeus-software.com/downloads/nglide. It worked but I was getting pretty low FPS, so I switched to software mode and the game worked pretty well. (I didn't get far since the game doesn't personally interest me.)

How did you get it to install? I can't seem to run the installer on my Win 7 x64 machine at all. Once I can get past that hurdle, I can get to work on whether nGlide will work for me or not. =)

It was a while ago but the torrent was, iirc, just an .iso file I started up with Daemon Tools. But now that I think about it, it may have been on my XP machine I had before I got the Windows 7 machine I have now.

Ah, that make sense.

I haven't tried it with an XP VM yet (shouldn't take too long to set one up). I don't think the game itself has any 16-bit components, but I think the installer might. I have the UK version (Theme Park World). I don't know if there's any difference between the SoldOut installer for TPW and whatever installer was used for Sim Theme Park. I didn't want to pay $36 to find out, heh.

Theme Park World does run fine on Windows 8.1, Windows7 and any other OS.

If you have the original, the program regularly installs on any OS - no matter if you have 32 or 64-bit machines.
but I know what you aer talking about, my original copy didn't work as well. For some reason, it does now.

however, most important is the following:

1. After installing, DO NOT start, instead, apply patch 2.0. Easy to find.

2. Open the Program directory, navigate to /data/

3. find "low.sam", "med.sam" and "high.sam"

4. Open with TExt Editor of your choice, find the strings "GraphicalOptions.RENDER32" and "...TEXTURE32"

5. switch both entrys in EACH file from 0 to 1

6. save

After that, apply no-CD patch if necessary, although this will deprive you of some great videos, and just play it.

It works, and as soon as I find the video again in which I found those instructions (he actually changed the entrys in the comments sections, too, I found this is not necessary) I will provide a link to it.

Well. Did not take me long to find it at all =)

Instructions, links, everything you'd EVER need for your TPW issues.

If the link in the Youtube video above doesn't work, here's the website where the fix installer (or zip file) comes from: http://www.adamhearn.co.uk/games/themeparkworld/tpwwin2kfix.html

Honestly for me just running the fix works for me without text editing, but it's probably different for a lot of people.

Very interesting, I may message this to Support unless you want to. (I assume they're probably already aware of it, but just in case...)

Go ahead. I never even thought of doing that to be honest. XD
