Somebody was asking in the original release thread if this is the CD or floppy version of the game. I figured I'd ask here too.

I'd assume if the CD version had a DOS version, that's the version we'd have here.

Seeing as this version is 82 mb I'd wager it's the CD ROM version of the game, in fact, looks like the complete installation even racks up 168 mb. As for it being the DOS version, I don't know that a Windows version would exist, given the fact that the game was originally release on the first of January 1994. Not a whole lot of Windows compatibility in those days. ;)

Ah yes, you appear to be right. There were some Maxis games that were early Windows (SimTower), but few and far between.

I'd recommend using SimAnt as an example of an early Maxis game for Windows. It was designed by Will Wright and released in 1991.

SimTower was published by Maxis in 1994 but it's an English translation of a Japanese game named The Tower, developed by Yoot Saito of OpenBook Co., Ltd.

(That's why the English release of the 1998 sequel (published by Sega) was called Yoot Tower)
