Hey all.

I am trying to get the game to work on my Win7 home premium 64-bit machine, but I can't. When watching the intro movies and the intro screen with the professor guy where I should be able to start or load games, the screen simply freezes on the first frame of the movie. That means that I cannot see what I am typing at the name screen, or where the mouse is on the main menu (actually, I can't even see the main menu, only the rolled-up white screen). When I write my name, or move the mouse, I can hear that the game is reacting, but I still can't see what I am doing.

I didn't install the game in c:/program files, but in a seperate games partition.

I tried changing the graphics settings using "Graphics mode setup.exe", but when I try to save, I get an error message saying "Error: Game not installed."

I have tried running both as administrator, and in all kinds of compatability modes, but with no luck.

Please help, I really want to play this game again.

Hello again, I found the solution.

In the Theme Hospital folder, open "dosboxTH.conf" with notepad or something like that (you might want to backup the file first).

In the line "output=surface", replace "surface" with "openglnb".

If you have a high resolution, I suggest you also change the sensitivity line from "100" to "50", to prevent your mouse from being all over the screen when you play the game.

Save the file, launch the game from the desktop icon or start menu, and enjoy.

Edit: Why am I unable to set this post as the solution to my problem...?

Having the exact same problem will try your fix ta
Worked perfectly thanks alot

Also might want to note that it may deny you access to change the folder, if so make sure you've set it so that you can before attempting to change it otherwise it wont allow you to save the changes.

Thanks for this up until this fix I had been alt + entering the game and playing in a small window.
Well this solution worked for getting the intro videos working. Now it just freezes when I try to start a new game. Crashes when I try to run in a window. *sigh*

If you continue having these little problems I really suggest you to download Corsix-TH, it's a little source-code software that allows you to play Theme Hospital with a good settings menu and other some benefits. :)

Good luck!

Actually I've found the Dosbox file, but can't figure out how to make it allow me to save the changes I make. It keeps saying 'Access is denied'; Can anybody tell me how to change this?

Just wanted to say that I was having real problems with the game lagging - it was very evident right from the first loading screen and made the game completely unplayable. Tried this on the off chance and it worked!! Thank you!

People, with Theme hospital there is a open source project which can improved the game (Well, until certain point) . Is called Corsix TH : https://code.google.com/p/corsix-th/

Technically, they re-made the game from zero or better say: they are re-making from zero. For play it you need the original files (which you have from Gog)
