I can start the game, i get into the meny where i choose "new game" but when the board of levels comes up and the first level is about to start the game locks up, if i press ESC i get back to the main meny, if i press new game again the same thing happens, why is this ?

Have you tried pressing the space bar when the game board graphic is on the screen? This, or a mouse click (although sometimes that doesn't work) is what starts the level after the game board has shown
