Bought the game and installed it. After pressing Play from Galaxy, the smal set up window appears. When I press Play!, nothing happens.

1) It's always helpful to specify which game you are talking about in the topic subject, when the forum covers multiple games. Also to post the specs of the rig you are using it on. - however there are so few people playing/following this forum that it would be a miracle to get help anyway.
2) Do a scan of the forums (Steam too), as in: https://www.gog.com/forum/thea_series?search=crash
Read through them and see if any are software/hardware related and sound like they describe your system. Try the more promising sounding workarounds. But note how old they are and give more credence to later ones.
3) Open a ticket and be patient.

I'm having the same problem, and my event log is basically the same as yours. I have 2 laptops. It works fine on one. Fails on the other.

I've been fighting it a bit, and sometimes it gets into the initial cutscene about 3 seconds and then bombs. Sometimes it bombs immediately.

Been playing around with compatibility options to no good effect.

I'm hoping someone does come up with a solution for us, because it is a bummer not being able to play the game.
Same here with Thea: The Awakeing on Windows 10. After pressing "play", nothing happens.

I tried a bunch of different compatibility fixes to make the game load, but got the same mysterious crash every time. Eventually I was able to get the game to work by reverting to the second-most-recent patch version.

* Right-click the game in your library after install
* Select Manage Installation > Configure...
* Un-check the Auto-updates box
* Change the verson selection from 1.20.3919.0 (doesn't work) to 1.20.3220.0 (works)
* Click OK
* Wait for the download / install to finish
* Click Play

The game loaded after this for me!
