Title says it all really. I own the game and I want to be able to play with the display name I want. I went to log into the game with my alternate GoG account, which was made specifically for this game so that I have a different display name, only to be told that I can't play online because I don't have the game on my account. Fair enough (though clearly DRM) but now the Galaxy client or whatever will not allow me to LOG OUT of my alternate account so that I can log into this one so I can play the damn game.

This needs to be fixed, remove the DRM or allow someone a chance to log into their proper account.

Edit: Uninstalling GoG downloader allowed me to login as my current account, but this is an issue that probably needs to be fixed if you are going to stealthily incorporate DRM into your products that can fuck paying customers over.

Galaxy uses an account, yes. If you want to play without it, you have to launch the game with the alternate exe which is in the game folder.

The thing is you really not using the real Galaxy client, your using a stripped down version for MP. GOG thought it would be a good idea so users could get the full experience in one install while they work on the real client rather than having to separately install it for MP. Should have been an option though from the get go, and currently it is for Double Dragon now. This is sooo much better in the actual client though.

As far as the DRM for MP... I disagree. While it would be nice if GOG let any account use any GOG game online, I can understand if they do not. Their paying for the servers and it is a service they are offering you. GOG mission has always been to keep the single player offline DRM free. Otherwise many other games before Galaxy would have never been here because of the CD keys for online access.

Lot of people like to blast GOG because they feel the game should have LAN ect in addition to the Galaxy MP, instead off, but this has zero to do with GOG. GOG simply gives devs an option, they choose what type of MP they put in the game. IF it was not for Galaxy, they game would simply have no MP, if it even released here at all.

It's online MP. Were you really expecting GOG to allow you to play this game online with any account? I could list a lot of reasons of what is wrong with that. You should thank them they are giving you the servers for playing online for free, and that you don't have any annoying DRM if you want to play offline.

Does this game even needs a dedicated server? (the answer is obviously no, just a multiplayer client)

I can`t play this game online even from the account I bought it on (my only account) and the AI is so dumb it is impossible to play against. Therefore game is almost unplayable (only exeption is to gather people around the notebook). And all because of stupid DRM which shouldn`t be on the gog in the first place.

There is a lot of games on GOG with Digital Right Minimization for the multiplayer part.
This game is just one of them.
I do not think DRM for multiplayer is ok
look at my question in a other forum thread for a deeper explanation of why I think so.

Hmm a GogMix with a list if games with DRM'ed multiplayer part wold be nice.
I got no idea of how to find all the games that should be in that list, else I wold have created it.
