In my latest save on 1.10 I was level 39 with 1600ish XP. Now when I load up that save on 1.21 I'm on level 39 with 2000/2000 XP - what happened? Is the free XP intentional?

That's funny. My Geralt was level 70 (NG+) and now with the patch I have -2000 XP. I killed a few monsters and now I have -1998 XP. :D Ah well, not a big deal.
So no, I don't think this is intentional. They raised the level cap from 70 to 100 with this patch and changes to this system had to have some effects on existing games.

Hello,
That's weird for me: my geralt was level 67 (NG+) and now i have 58000/2000xp. I killed one monster lvl 36 i win 1xp and up lvl 96 ><. No message for lvl up but i'm really lvl96. When i started the game after 1.21, I have the message explain and propose me a new game + (i'm already in NG+...).
